There was something about the boy that felt different. He had a quiet and calm demeanor that made others feel he was born with an important purpose, even if nobody knew what that purpose was.
He didn’t have any unusual or great talents, but he was quiet, spending lots of time by himself, always observing others. Although nobody else knew it, the boy named Josh had a non-human mentor. This mentor was a friend that Josh chatted with every day in a wordless exchange of energy that no one else could see.
At the age of 7, on an exceptionally windy day, Josh said goodbye to his parents as he left his house to go into the backyard with his big red kite. Josh’s parents laughed to themselves when he said goodbye, lovingly watching him from the kitchen window. But for Josh, his goodbye was real.
