You never need to try to fake the feeling of gratitude. If you pretend to appreciate something that is making you upset, you’re sending mixed messages out into the Universe, and will attract more things that you feel you should be grateful for, but you genuinely don’t like.
This was an interesting action step. I found it easy to write down things I’m genuinely grateful for, but surprisingly hard to come up with a list of things I think I should be grateful for but I’m genuinely not. I believe it’s because I don’t want to admit to myself that I’m not genuinely grateful at this moment, for the things I wrote in that column.
